CASA JULITO is an 18th century country house lodge, built in the traditional style. Its interior was refurbished in 2005. It is located in the town hall square in Barásoain, next to the church with two towers, in the Valle Valdorba y Sierra Alaiz region. All of the windows face outwards, towards the west, and afford magnificent views. CASA JULITO has made every effort to combine tradition, culture, technology and respect for the environment. It is worth mentioning the fact that this is the first country house lodge in Spain with a network-connected solar energy installation. The power produced by its solar roof panels is roughly equivalent to the annual electrical consumption of 3 private homes. También se puede disfrutar de una exposición renovable de cuadros de Asun Requena que pueden ser adquiridos por los clientes y hacen más agradable la estancia. Guests can also enjoy a revolving exhibit of paintings by Asun Requena, which are available for purchase and which make for a more pleasant atmosphere.
The house can accommodate 4 people in 2 double rooms. Another free room is available with 2 extra folding beds, if needed. The décor of the rooms features paintings and traditional furniture, and bedclothes, etc. are also included. One of the rooms is only opened for use when there are more than 4 guests. A cot and changing table are available for couples with small children.
The house also has: - Private, 60 sq m courtyard with a barbecue and furniture, exclusively for our guests' use. - Completely refurbished kitchen with wooden furniture and traditional ceramic tiles. This room features a traditional wood-burning range cooker. - Completely refurbished, fully fitted bathroom, with hydromassage shower and rustic furnishings. - Lounge with sofas. - Parking right outside the house.
Barásoain and the La Valdorba region are exceptional places because of their peace and quiet, even though they are strategically located right in the heart of Navarre. This means that they are close to all parts of the province. It would be difficult to find another rural village in Navarre with such good connections, providing easy access to any point in the region.
Navarre is a collection of scenery and peoples. This variety encompasses everything from the desert-like Las Bardenas area in the south of the province to the wet forests of the Pyrenees and their foothills next to the sea, with a Mediterranean-type area between the two. The result of this diversity of climate types is a rich assortment of landscapes, culture, cuisine, peoples and traditions. All of this variety is within easy reach of Barásoain and La Valdorba, for both visits to the southern and northern parts of the province, or even to spend a day at the beach and visit San Sebastián or Hendaye in France.
The La Valdorba region is dotted with churches and shrines, and populated by the memories of the hospitals, monasteries, medieval orders and travellers who traced a branch of the Camino de Santiago. The valley, where most of the Romanesque works are concentrated in Navarre, is a clear example of the assimilation of art along this pilgrimage route.
There are many places of artistic interest in the area, and what makes them especially attractive is the fact that these churches, bridges, mills, hórreos (traditional raised granaries), shrines, palaces, crosses and stelae are located in little-frequented rural settings, enveloping them in an aura of magic and mystery.
